Organising workflows in digital archives on the example of Swedish Resources Förvaltnung and RTV Slovenia (abstract)

Quality  controlled audio ingest systems such as the NOA Ingest Line  have become standard for the efficient digitisation of audioarchives to ensure a correct facsimile of the original. With the need on migration strategies and social sharing of content between national institutions, more evident problems when dealing with digital facsimiles may arise in non-suitably managed environments of archive catalog systems, which may be related to a poor description of the content or a minorly linked item in a global catalog context.  NOA has focussed within mediARC to tackle the challenge of combining an exact catalog entry with a powerful workflow solution to cope with the various needs on storage, distribution and retranscoding of media items.  The possibilities to extend a central archiving system with management tools on a national view has been developed by NOA for SRF Sweden as well as for RTV Slovenia on standard NOA products where regional centres just need small ingest systems to benefit from a centrally well organised and transparently hosted archive.  The demands for data security and mirroring has been proven to get well managed with an export of specific collections with their respective metadata towards 3rd party metadata portals.
The experience gathered form the different projects will therefore be presented.
